What is HELOA?

What is Education Liaison?

What binds HELOA members together is our common role in education liaison activities.

Education liaison is an activity which has become increasingly important in the context of the huge choice of courses and higher education institutions which are now available to students and also in the context of educational policy changes in recent years, such as student finance.

Our organisation is made up of education professionals from higher education institutions across the UK who deliver activities to support students and their families in making decisions about higher education. We also provide activities to support schools and colleges and other organisations.

This advice and guidance which is offered by HELOA members through their individual institutions can include:

  • Presentations to prospective students, parents and advisors on a range of topics including why they should consider higher education, choice of university and course, student finance, application, and careers.
  • Individual advice and guidance at education conventions
  • University and college open days
  • Publicity and promotional literature
  • Taster sessions and master classes for prospective students
  • Residential programmes and experiences such as summer schools, offering a chance to experience higher education first hand
  • Conferences for teachers and advisers
